Wisdom
After listening to a “highly recommended” podcast made by a person identified as a major “Influencer”, I knew something important was missing. Bad advice is bad advice, and just because the source is considered a top “Influencer”, does not change the outcome. Wondering what being an “Influencer” meant, I turned to Google, my go-to source for worldly information. Here I found an “influencer” was a social media person, average age 27, with thousands of “followers”. Justin Bieber, at age 31, ranked 3rd in the world with over 3M “followers”. This new information brought me to question whether young adults age 25-34 (aka Millennials) are our nation’s best source for good advice? The phrase I heard repeated as I grew was “If they’re so smart how come they ain’t rich”. The logic being, when a person becomes a “millionaire” they are, by definition, both “rich” and “smart”. Thus anointing them with the rare ability to give good advice. Now, according to Forbes, there are currently 3028 billionaires worldwide. Q: If advice from a “millionaire” is considered good advice, could advice from a billionaire be even better? Noticeably, along with the millionaires, billionaires and the social media Influencers mentioned above, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimate there are another 1,075,100 individuals offering good advice as management consultants. Obviously, this identifies a problem that all must face. With all this good advice and wisdom being available, a critical choice must be made. Which “adviser” is the best one for you? Note: Quite by good fortune, this brings me to be able to offer a fix to your dilemma. As a personal sacrifice, for a one-time nominal fee, I will guide you to that “right” person. Problem identified, problem solved. No thanks required. Moral: Knowing where to fit in is a sign of wisdom. |
