Arrived
On Monday March 4th, 2024, I arrived. It happened in Cawker City Kansas where I stood before the world’s largest Ball of Twine. It’s 46 ft in circumference, weighs 27017 lbs., and contains 8,507,430 ft of twine. It was immortalized in National Lampoon's 1983 Chevy Chase movie Vacation as one of those must visit places in a family’s cross country road trip. As I’ve shared some of my life’s high points with others, I repeatedly find many amazed, and stunned to silence. The fact that I’ve viewed the world’s largest Ball of Twine, was a runner up in a Chicago Howdy Doody look alike contest, actually shook a president’s hand (Ford), graduated in the top 60% of my high school class, and took third place in an after-school yo-yo contest simply leaves many breathless. Which naturally brings me to my words of encouragement. Don’t give up on your dreams, you may not have arrived there yet, but there is still hope. Our move back to Texas is just one example. This was not on our radar screen 90 days ago, and yet, as of April 1, 2024, it will be a reality. With that move I will no longer be the only person in a store wearing my western style hat and boots, so dreams can come true, even if you don’t see how. Just because you walk in the light does not mean you can see around corners. Smile, hope, and take that next step. You may not make it to Cawker City, but arriving at your special place is what counts. Moral: The best is yet to come. |
