My Mistake by the Story Teller

This is one of those times when I did not wash my hands. Let me explain. Highway 77 has a 60 mile stretch of divided four lane road between Rivera and Raymondville passing through the King Ranch. It is 60 miles without a gas station, motel, truck stop, or 7-11. It is just 60 miles of straight highway thru open ranch land. There is however, one large rest area with bathrooms about half way. It serves for folks going both north and south. If you are driving north from Raymondville the side of the rest area building you stop on has the entrance to the men’s restroom right next to the main building. I know - having stopped there often. Driving south we would rarely stop, having taken care of business up the road. On this particular Friday I had traveled north to Corpus Christi by myself because Elaine was working. I was headed home driving south on 77 and decide to make a quick stop at the rest area. I parked the car and walked directly into the restroom. While I noticed there were only stalls, something unusual for a men’s restroom, the stall in front of me was open so I step in and began. That was when it dawned on me - I was in the wrong bathroom and somebody was in a stall two over. I did not take to time to stop and wash my hands. Warning – Men, if you are driving south on highway 77 and you stop at the rest area, the entrance to the women’s bathroom is closest to the main build . Moral – Just because we start a job thinking we are right should not prevent us from changing our minds when new facts are presented |
