From The Storyteller

Hello All: Today I feel the Sunday Morning comics of my youth were pretty progressive for their time, and gave us an idea of what may be to come. Also here is this week's story link to our YouTube video. Enjoy, Doug. https://youtu.be/Y-DcwejSEHo
Possibilities “This thing is a wonderment”, me thinking about my smartphone during Elaine’s 5700-mile retirement victory lap road trip we took this summer. Lots of family and lots of beautiful country. While we were driving those miles, we were also taking hundreds of pictures including rocks, mountains, dirt, flowers, fish, desert, signs, and of course family. Unlike the old days of film and flash, on this trip I discovered it was possible to turn my two-year-old phone into a great camera. And this caused me to think about what is possible with a Fitbit’s Versa 3 wrist “thing”. It has GPS, health monitoring systems, calendars, music, and you can even take and make phone calls and texts. Naturally, the possibility of having a wrist phone reminded me of a Sunday morning color comics character, Dick Tracy. Tracy was awesome. That guy had a two-way wrist radio. He solved crimes, did fantastic things, and ultimately was a part of discovering the “Moon maiden”, who was one of the people living on the dark side of the moon. Tracy’s adopted son, Junior Tracy, married her, and they had a daughter named Honeymoon Tracy. Sunday comics science fiction predicted the creation of Fitbit watches, putting people on the moon, and robots on Mars. This started me wondering about the possibility of a “Moon Maiden” alien out there somewhere. Just saying - if Dick Tracy comics could predict two-way wrist watches, could they also be right about there being “Others”? Moral: Endless possibilities. |
