6-Minutes
I was halfway to a church meeting when magic happened. I got a message on my phone telling me I’m 6 minutes from my destination. This 6-minute notice also told me traffic is “light”. A question immediately comes to mind – “Why am I worthy of this notice?” I control no wealth, nor voting groups, am not a social media influencer, and have fewer friends on Facebook than my neighbor’s dog. Yet, out of the roughly 8 billion people on this planet, I had been selected for the 6-minute notice. The obvious dawns on me. God wants me to be on time for this meeting. Unfortunately, when Elaine and I arrived the sign on the door said the meeting was canceled due to illness, so maybe it wasn’t a message from God after all. Still pondering this magical 6-minute notice, I headed home. On the return trip I did not get a message telling me traffic was “light”. While traffic appeared to be unchanged, it’s possible a few extra cars got on the road and elevated traffic above “light”. Which obviously brought me to the place where I considered changing my shoe inserts. Every two months my shoe insert manufacturer advises me I should replace my inserts with new ones. It’s been a few days past two months, so now I understood why I got the original 6-minute notice on the way, but not on the way back. It’s God’s way of helping me to stay current on all the stale dates I have on my shelves. By pointing out how small changes can make big differences, I'm reminded to be vigilant about critical things, like "product used by” dates. I tremble at the thought of what might otherwise be lurking on a back shelf in my refrigerator. Others have smiled as I shared this important divine message with them, and starting 2024 with a smile is important, so I’m glad I can share it with you. Moral: Any reason to smile is a good one – Happy New Year. |
